The Albany Shed Range of Garden Buildings

Albany have been manufacturing timber sectional buildings for over 20 years originally supplying sheds to local trade customers, over the years we have grown to become a well known name in our industry with a reputation for producing well made buildings at competitive prices.

Production

We operate from two modern manufacturing facilities in Desborough, Northants using up to date production methods and the latest machinery. Our policy is to use thicker than average materials where possible for example we use a 15mm tongue and groove shiplap board as standard on many of our buildings compared to the industry standard of 12mm. N.B. when comparing our specification against others check you have the finished timber size after machining as some companies will quote sizes before planing.

Special Orders

Some buildings in our range can be made to order including special sizes and different door and window positions. We at Broomhill can advise what is possible.

Delivery

We deliver to Broomhill using our own fleet of vehicles.Delivery time can vary depending on time of year, our busiest times are spring and summer so please allow sufficient time when ordering.

Timber

All our timber comes from well managed sustainable sources, we mainly use timber from Sweden, Russia and the UK. Some of our suppliers are FSC (forest stewardship council) certified.

Building Sizes

All sizes are approximate based on external measurements they do not include roof overhang etc, please allow for any overhangs when choosing the size of your building, bearing in mind space required for installation and maintenance.

We advise you check internal sizes if buying a building for a specific purpose. L x W x H = Length x Width x Height. FW x D x H = Front Width x Depth x Height. Ref = approximant imperial size E.g. 806 = 8ft x 6ft approx. T=Building shown factory treated.

Treatment

Buildings supplied factory treated are dip-treated with a base coat of good quality red cedar timber treatment (excluding most shed roofs), as shown on selected buildings inside this brochure. The dipping process can result in some colour variation or drying marks, this will not affect the performance of the treatment or building.

Standard sheds, storage units, kennels and playhouses are treated in a water based product. All other buildings are treated using a spirit based. Barrettine red cedar spirit based treatment for retreating can now be ordered from your dealer in 5L containers.

Doors

Standard doors on apex sheds are hinged on the left hand side. Right hand hinge doors are available on request. double doors on sheds are supplied with a galvanised pad- bolt instead of a lock and key. 1500 mm wide double doors can only be fitted in sections 2.1 m or larger. Some summerhouses may be supplied with hardwood doors at no extra cost, which will be darker in appearance.

Windows

Quantity of windows refers to standard buildings only. Pent roof sheds may have more windows depending on door position. All windows are fixed unless otherwise stated. Glass supplied is 3 mm horticultural (except children’s playhouses) fixed with beading. Safety glass or perspex can be ordered at extra cost on most buildings. Buildings can be supplied without windows at no extra cost. Some summerhouses may be supplied with hardwood windows at no extra cost, which will be darker in appearance.

Site

Access Please bear in mind that not all building sections will fit through a standard doorway or go round sharp corners. Please check site access with your dealer if you are unsure. Larger sections will be manufactured in more than one piece.

Base

It is essential that your building is assembled onto a suitable base, which must be solid and level and square. We recommend a paving slab base. Tanalised timber bearers will help prolong the life span of your floor.

Caring For Your Building

Buildings supplied un-treated should be treated as soon as possible after delivery using a good quality timber preservative. Buildings supplied with a factory base coat of treatment should be re-treated within the first six to twelve months and from then on annually. It is advisable to fit guttering to larger buildings.

Specification

All buildings are supplied complete with floor, 20kg roofing felt (38kg on the Major), glass, trims and fixings. Roof purlins and trusses are supplied where necessary. Timber sizes stated are finished size after machining.

At Albany we are always looking for ways to improve our products, we therefore reserve the right to alter/ amend specification at our discretion.
